Koh Chang Geography

Koh Chang is located at latitude: 12.062257 and longitude: 102.330383 and about 30 kilometers long, 14 kilometers wide, 217 square kilometers.

Koh Chang GeographyThe Koh Chang Marine National Park, along with an archipelago of 52 islands, has a total area of 650 square kilometers and is 70 percent of marine. The interior of the island is mountainous and covered with tropical rainforest. The highest elevation is Khao Salak Phet, which is 743 meters above sea level.

There are 8 villages, Ban Salak Phet, Ban Salak Khok, Ban Chek Bae, Ban Dan Mai, Ban Klong Son, Ban Klong Prao, Ban Klong Nonsi, and Ban Bang Bao.

Around the west coast of Koh Chang has several sandy beaches, White Sand Beach, Pearl Beach, Chai Chet Cape, Klong Prao Beach, Kai Bae Beach, Lonely Beach, Bai Lan Bay, Bang Bao Bay most of hotels and resorts are located. In the south is the villages of Bang Bao.

There is one main street on the west coast. The remaining roads on the west coast have a high gradient, while the topography of the east coast prohibit roads. Most buildings are wooden stilt houses.


Koh Chang Weather

The weather on Koh Chang is cool and pleasant with plenty of sunshine between November and February. During March and April, average temperatures is around 30-34 degree celsius. During May to October, the southwestern monsoon from the Thai Gulf brings rain to Trat, visitors should take extra precaution when traversing its waters. The weather on Trat province varies from the mainland to the islands.
